Come celebrate Pride at the Wallingford Public Library! Join us on Friday nights this June for a three-part film series centering LGBTQIA experiences. We will feature the 2018 romantic comedy Love, Simon (PG-13) on June 7, the 2023 documentary Every Body (R) on June 14, and the 2018 Kenyan drama Rafiki (unrated) on June 21. With this series, we wish to showcase stories that bring awareness to the vast history, challenges, triumphs and dreams of those who identify as Queer. Audience members are invited to take part in a short discussion following each film. All are welcome; no registration is required! #Librariesareforeveryone

Every Body: This documentary follows the stories of three individuals who have moved from childhoods marked by shame, secrecy and non-consensual surgeries to thriving adulthoods. River Gallo, Alicia Roth Weigel and Sean Saifa Wall are leaders in a fast-growing global movement advocating for greater understanding of the intersex community and an end to unnecessary surgeries. Woven into the story is a stranger-than-fiction case of medical abuse, which helps explain the modern-day treatment of intersex people. PLEASE NOTE: This film is rated R. Anyone under 17 requires an accompanying parent or adult guardian
