Join us for a film series that celebrates the stories, dreams, and experiences of the Latin American community! From Sept. 13 to Oct. 11, the Wallingford Public Library & Spanish Community of Wallingford (SCOW) will co-host Friday night screenings of films that explore Latine characters and culture in honor of National Hispanic Heritage Month. Following this five-week series, we will show a Latin-themed movie the second Friday of the month from fall to late spring. All are welcome to attend; no registration is required.

Our fourth film in the series will be the 2021 animated comedy Vivo (Rated PG). This musical, which features the songs and voice of Lin-Manuel Miranda, follows a kinkajou ("honey bear") who spends his days playing music in a lively square with his beloved owner Andrés. Though they may not speak the same language, Vivo and Andrés are united by their common love of music. But when tragedy strikes, it's up to Vivo to deliver a message that Andrés never could: A love letter to his old musical partner Marta, written long ago, in the form of a song. Yet in order to get to Marta, who lives a world apart, Vivo will need the help of Gabi, an energetic tween who bounces to the beat of her own offbeat drum, to fulfill his owner's wishes.
