Event Details

Join us for a film series that celebrates the stories, dreams, and experiences of the Latin American community! From Sept. 13 to Oct. 11, the Wallingford Public Library & Spanish Community of Wallingford (SCOW) will co-host Friday night film screenings that explore Latine characters and culture in honor of National Hispanic Heritage Month. Following this five-week series, we will show a Latin-themed movie the second Friday of each month from fall to late spring. All are welcome to attend; no registration is required.

Our first film in the series will be the 2021 animated film Encanto (Rated PG). This delightful musical fantasy tells the story of the Madrigals, an extraordinary family who live hidden in the mountains of Colombia in a charmed place called the Encanto. The magic of the Encanto has blessed every child in the family with a unique gift -- every child except Mirabel. However, when she discovers that the magic surrounding the Encanto is now in danger, she may be her family's greatest hope.
