Wallingford Public Library is celebrating Pride Month this June with an all ages jam sesh! Join musician Anselm Juan for a friendly and fun sing- and play-along, no experience required. Anselm will use his perfect pitch and musical ability to perform (and help you perform) any song you can think of! Bring an instrument or use one of the drums, maracas, tambourines, or ukuleles provided. As Anselm says, “No ability is required to join! This is a place for people to be ‘bad’ at something, learn a little bit about how to do it, and have a great time.” And don’t miss Anselm at 6:30pm as part of the panel “LGBTQ+ Voices on Creativity, Expression, and Identity.”

Anselm Juan (He/Him) is kind of weird, but not in a bad way! Visiting from Danbury, he’s a 16-year-old, half-Filipino, pansexual, music-loving, science-loving, multilingual nerd. And he’s most definitely proud of that. One of Anselm’s biggest interests is biology. While the rules of math and writing are fun to learn, it is even more fascinating how nature repeatedly shatters our concepts of what is “within the rules.” Whether it has to do with LGBT+ activism or the art of music, Anselm hopes to follow in the footsteps of Mother Nature, opening up minds and breaking down what we think of as “normal.”
