Jason Mott is the author of two poetry collections and four novels. His first novel, The Returned, was adapted for television and aired on ABC as "Resurrection." His most recent novel, Hell of a Book, won the 2021 National Book Award for Fiction and the Sir Walter Raleigh Award for Fiction.
Join us as we talk to Mott about Hell of a Book. In the novel, a Black author sets out on a cross-country publicity tour to promote his bestselling book. Also along for the tour is The Kid, a possibly imaginary child who appears to the author as he travels. Mott’s novel is about family, the love of parents and children, art and money. It’s also about our country’s reckoning with a tragic police shooting that is shown over and over again on the news and with what it means to be Black in America.
Our partnership with the Library Speakers Consortium is funded by The Book Seller. Thank you for your continued support of our used book store!
