I Know Why the Caged Bird Sings by Maya Angelou

The classic autobiographical narrative about the first 16 years in the life of the celebrated author, poet, and civil rights activist. In moving and lyrical language, Angelou chronicles how strength of character and love of literature can help overcome childhood trauma and Jim Crow-era racism.
