A memoir about the author's upbringing on an isolated Idaho farm dominated by her survivalist father, a devout Mormon, who kept his children out of school, denied them medical care, and stockpiled guns and supplies for end-times. Through her intelligence and determination, Westover pursued knowledge, went to college, and in 2014 was awarded a PhD from Cambridge University.
